We believe that music can bring great benefits to anyone, whether by performing it or even by just soaking in the beautiful sounds. We love to share this philosophy and are proud to be a part of some very special programs.
Sponsored by the Jonathan D. Krist Foundation, Stand Partners, is a unique program which allows our students the opportunity to play with and learn from professional musicians. In 2015, Foundation Academy Charter School partnered with the Concordia Chamber Players of Bucks County. The program brings together world class musicians to train and inspire honors music students. Trenton native, Michelle Djokic, cellist and a founder of the Concordia Chamber Players, guides the program. Michelle teaches master classes at the successful charter school, preparing string players for their recital at Ellarslie Mansion. At this annual event, students share the stage with professional musicians from Concordia and together, promote chamber music in Trenton. (Watch the video below)
Students at Foundation Academies love classical music. When they were without a music teacher and orchestra for a semester, they rehearsed independently on Saturdays. The Foundation encouraged the high school juniors to formalize their ensemble and set some goals. They did. To earn a chair in the school orchestra today, students teach younger musicians, attend concerts and master classes with internationally acclaimed cellist, Michelle Djokic, and organize their own recital.
We also invite the Foundation Academies students to attend our regular season concerts at no cost as a part of our outreach.
