Seven Pillars performed by Sandbox Percussion
April 24, 2022
We close out the season with Seven Pillars by Andy Akiho. Described as “trailblazing” by the LA Times, composer Andy Akiho brings rhythmic nuance and complexity to his compositions that I find both intoxicating and irresistible. The first-rate percussion ensemble, Sandbox, comes to us from Brooklyn to reveal this awesome work and share their supernatural powers in all that is percussion.
Fun fact: Andy composed Pillar II while staying at Cradle Valley Farm in Solebury!
Program:

American Haiku for viola, and cello — Paul Wiancko
String Trio — Jean Cras
Clouds of Gill for clarinet, violin, and cello — Paul Wiancko
Any small amount that you feel comfortable contributing towards our continuing efforts to bring chamber music to the public will be greatly appreciated.

About Clouds of Gill…
“This trio is loosely based on my time observing the skies of western Massachusetts, namely cloudspotting with my niece Aki. Even more so, it’s about the inevitability of change and the power of delusion.”
— Paul Wiancko
