Bach to Bandoneon

Join us for music and cocktails as we celebrate the launch of a new season of Concordia Chamber Players. Featuring JP Jofre on bandoneon, Yoni Levyatov on piano and artistic director, Michelle Djokic on cello, we will take you on an inspiring and whimsical musical journey from baroque selections to the newly written original compositions of JP Jofre. All this while you enjoy a cocktail in the timeless beauty of the fully restored barn from 1769 in Solebury, Pennsylvania.

Tickets are $75 which includes cocktails and light fare.

Concordia Chamber Players’ second subscription concert will feature a brilliant young percussionist, Peter Ferry in works by Osvaldo Golijov, Michael Torke and Nick Didkovsky. With the marimba at center stage for the first time in Concordia history you will be amazed by the versatility and depth of color of this wonderful instrument. The program also includes the String Quartet No. 2 of Sergei Prokofiev (On Kabardinian Themes) a work based on folk themes and awash in its inherent rhythmic vitality.

Our final subscription concert will explore the works of several pacifists, most notably, Frank Bridge, as we present his “Phantasie” for Piano Quartet. Also on this program you will hear the haunting Piano Trio in E minor of Dmitri Shostakovich. This program concludes the season with the uplifting and spirited Piano Quartet No. 1 in C minor of Gabriel Faure. Concordia favorites, Carmit Zori, Robert Rhinehart and John Novacek will join me for this concert.
