At Concordia, the music doesn’t stop at the concert hall door. Bringing world-class chamber music to our corner of Bucks County is at the heart of what we do—but so is bringing it to the places where it can spark something new: schools, studios, and community spaces where the next generation of music lovers is waiting to be found. In the days leading up to each of our concerts, you’ll find us out in the community doing exactly that.
Here’s a look at one recent week of outreach that reminded us exactly why this mission matters so much to us.
It started on Thursday with Michelle visiting New Hope Solebury High School for a Career Pathways event, talking with students about her life as a professional musician. The energy in that room was wonderful—exactly the kind of reminder of why this work matters so much to us.
On Friday, Michelle and the string ensemble headed to Foundation Academies Middle School in Trenton for a master class with their students. Concordia has been proud to be a part of this program for many years now, and it’s a relationship that means a great deal to us. Having the group there made it something truly special — students weren’t just hearing about chamber music, they were experiencing it up close, watching the musicians interact with each other, work through ideas together, and bring music to life in real time. The enthusiasm and curiosity in that room was genuine and infectious. Being able to bring it directly to them is exactly the kind of moment that reminds us why community outreach is so central to Concordia’s mission.
On Saturday, the week wrapped up at the historic Phillips Mill with a free Open Rehearsal, where the musicians worked through the program ahead of the concert. Phillips Mill is one of those magical spaces that just feels right for chamber music, and guests that afternoon got something truly special — a front-row seat to the collaborative process, with the chance to ask questions and connect directly with the artists. No stage, no distance, just music in the making.
